Aaref Hilaly is a Partner at Wing where he helps technical founders build companies around their ideas. Prior to joining Wing, Aaref was a partner at Sequoia Capital, which he joined in 2012. At Sequoia, Aaref served on the boards of several category-defining companies, including Clari, Guardant Health (NASDAQ: GH), Lightstep, Skyhigh Networks (acquired by McAffee), and ThousandEyes.
Prior to joining Sequoia, Aaref was the CEO of Clearwell, which he grew from a handful of engineers into a profitable company with over $100m in annual revenue. In 2011, Symantec acquired Clearwell for $410 million and Aaref became VP Engineering in Symantec’s information management group. Prior to that, Aaref was the Founder and CEO of CenterRun, a pioneer in datacenter automation, which was acquired by Sun Microsystems.
Earlier in his career, Aaref worked at The Boston Consulting Group and in the investment banking division at Morgan Stanley. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, a Master’s degree in economics from McGill University and a B.A. degree from Oxford University.
